Wines from Romania
Romania is a country which has at least as much potential than any other Eastern European Country. It has a growing reputation for Pinot Noir, particularly from the region of Dealul Mare. Hungary has received much more investment than Romania. The country needs financial and technical help.
They have been agreements between the country and the EU and as an example all hybrids must be removed by 2014. A very important factor is that only the good vineyards are re planted with the right varieties which are Babeaska, Busuioaca, Francusa, Galbena, Grasa and Tamaiosa.
Most wines which are produced from these are still a bit rustic but they do show promise. Once the clones are sorted the right sites are chosen , the vines are grown and low yields and skilled winemakers are employed to produce the right style of wines Romania will be recognised to produce good quality wines.
